Barbara Bate, Principal at Northeast Life Care Planning, Inc. (NLCP®), provides medical/catastrophic case management services, life care plan development/review, medical file reviews/legal nurse consulting, medical cost projections, and Medicare Secondary Payer compliance services (e.g., MSA allocations, Conditional payment review). Barbara has over 35 years experience as a registered nurse and holds national certifications in Case Management, Rehabilitation Nursing, Nurse Life Care Planning, Legal Nurse Consulting, and Medicare Set-Aside Consulting.
She has provided medical case management services for patients with severe injuries such as traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputations, and orthopedic injuries for the past 24 years in addition to clinical work experience in the Operating Room, Pediatrics and Obstetrics.
Barbara has been an active member of the American Association of Nurse Life Care Planners since 2004 serving as President-Elect in 2009, President in 2010, and Past-President in 2011. Her initial involvement with the association was with the Educational Committee and the Editorial Board for the Journal of Nurse Life Care Planning. She was co-editor for the 2011 Spring Edition of the Journal and continues to peer-review articles prior to publication as time allows.
In 2012, she joined the Certified Nurse Life Care Planner (CNLCP®) Certification Board and currently holds the position of Co-Chair.
Barbara is a member of the Case Management Society of America, the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants, and the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses. She, also, is a charter member of the National Alliance of Medicare Set-Aside Professionals (NAMSAP) and former member of NAMSAP’s Board of Directors (2009-May of 2014).
Barbara has been published and has presented at several nursing conferences, in addition to those specific to the medical-legal and insurance industry.
